GENERAL QUESTIONS

Who can play?

EVERYONE!

Together in one safe, comfortable, and accessible area, this area of health and wellness will encapsulate a 6-23 month old section, a 2-5 year old section, a 5-12 year old section, and a track along with perimeter with exercise equipment for adolescents and adults. The playground in its entirety is set up to facilitate play between multiple generations and abilities. It is fully accessible with 100% PebbleFlex2.0 surfacing to allow individuals with mobility devices to access all parts of the playground! The half-mile track around the perimeter of the park will be paved with intermittent pods of surfaced, accessible work-out stations.

INCLUSIVITY QUESTIONS

How is this area sensory friendly?

The broad play experiences from sensory-rich playgrounds allow children of all abilities to integrate and develop their senses. The more they play, the more they develop skills necessary to engage, change, and impact the world around them. Senses At Play: Tactile (how the world feels), Vestibular (how you balance within the world), Auditory (how the world sounds), Visual (how the world looks), Motor Planning (how you move through the world), and social/imaginative (how you engage with the world). We have thoughtfully designed this playground to include a sensory panel wall, a fully accessible zip line with various seating options, and “quiet” spaces as well.

How does this playground support an individual who utilizes non-verbal communication?

There will be various forms of non-verbal communication panels through the playground including braille, tangible symbols, and picture systems.

Who do I contact to build a similar health and wellness area in my community?

We highly recommend Landscape Structures for a fully inclusive play area that is tailored to meet the needs of your own community.

ACCESSIBILITY, SAFETY, AND RULES QUESTIONS

What safety features are found at this health and wellness area?

There will be a fence on the east side of the playground to provide a safe barrier between the play area and the road. There will be ample amount of natural shade from trees, and also some commercial shade structures as we are aware certain individuals have sensitives to the sun. We have selected materials to keep the surfacing, transfer platforms, and slides as cool as possible during the summertime. We are working on placing transfer platforms at the end of slides so that individuals utilizing a mobility device to reach the top of the slide can have a safe place at the bottom of the slide to sit while a friend or family member retrieves their mobility device from above.

Is there supervision at this playground?

No formal supervision will be provided. This will be a public playground; you are responsible for your own supervision.

Are pets allowed on premises?

Service animals only, please.

Is there a weight limit on equipment?

No. All children and adults are welcome to PLAY!
